Physiotherapy
How Can We Help You
Physiotherapy
Our practice welcomes patients of all ages ranging from young athletes to the actively aged, and all activity levels from relatively sedentary to top-level sports people who are training for big events.
Physiodynamix is privileged to be part of your wellness journey.
Sports Injuries
Sprains, strains and other soft tissue injuries are common in the sporting population.
Sometimes these cause a short interruption of training and competition, but they could also lead to a prolonged time away from the sports field.
Physiotherapy is essential to provide the quickest return to sport with the lowest risk of re-injury.
Back & Neck Injuries
Back or neck pain can be debilitating. There are many pain-sensitive structures in the back and neck – joints, discs, ligaments, muscles and nerves. A thorough assessment by your physiotherapist is key.
Once the cause of pain is identified, treatment might include soft tissue release, joint mobilisation techniques, neural (nerve) mobilisation, dry needling, specific relevant exercises and perhaps some electrotherapy modalities like ultrasound or interferential.
Headaches
There are many causes of headaches and physiotherapy is hugely effective in providing relief.
Tension headaches caused by tension in the muscles of the neck, cervicogenic headaches referred from the joints of the neck and even migraine respond well to focused physiotherapy.
Dry Needling
Dry needling uses fine stainless steel needles that do not inject anything into the body, which is why we call them dry needles.
Dry needling is an effective technique used for the treatment of muscular spasm and myofascial pain in many areas of the body. Needling reduces pain, inactivates trigger points and restores function.
Women’s Health
At Physiodynamix we offer antenatal care during pregnancy, postnatal care for new mothers, and care of the breast during breastfeeding.
Physiotherapy is safe during pregnancy and provides great relief of back pain, sacro-iliac joint (SIJ) pain and pelvic girdle pain which are all common during pregnancy and physiotherapy. Postnatal care includes support with returning to exercise, breastfeeding, and the treatment of breastfeeding complications like cracked nipples, blocked ducts and mastitis.
Maternity Wards
Physiodynamix provides physiotherapy in the maternity wards at Sandton Medi Clinic and Fourways Life.
These wards are a special part of the Physiodynamix portfolio as it is a great privilege to support and treat our patients as they embrace becoming Moms.
We care for the Mom’s post-natal needs from the day after they deliver until they are discharged.
Breastfeeding Support
Breastfeeding is hard! Sometimes there are complications like cracked nipples, blocked ducts and mastitis.
Our treatments include laser, ultrasound, specific massage techniques, and sometimes taping.
We help new moms with correct latching and help to ensure that breastfeeding is the happy, rewarding experience it should be.
Pilates
Pilates is a specific type of exercise developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates, which focuses on core strength, flexibility, posture and a sense of general wellbeing.
At Physiodynamix, sessions are offered by a professional physio with a specialised and rehabilitation-specific approach.
